Mount Limbo is a 7,312-foot summit in Nevada’s Selenite Range within the Great Basin Ranges, located in the Mount Limbo Wilderness Study Area managed by the Bureau of Land Management west-northwest of Lovelock and just north of Winnemucca Lake. The fourth-highest peak in the range, it stands near Purgatory Peak and is especially notable for its abrupt relief, rising about 3,100 feet above Poito Valley in roughly a mile. Set in the cold Great Basin Desert, it experiences hot summer days that cool quickly after sunset and cold winters with freezing nights. Its name was officially adopted in 1965 by the U.S. Board on Geographic Names.
