Contract 14 called for construction of a cantilever steel bridge over the Sacandaga Reservoir at Batchellerville, N.Y., with nineteen spans of 150 feet and two spans of 112 1/2 feet, along with 20 piers, 2 abutments, and the east approach. The work involved about 5,800 cubic yards of earth embankment, 1,200 cubic yards of riprap, 29,500 lineal feet of untreated timber piles, 9,100 cubic yards of concrete, 6,900 square yards of concrete pavement surfacing, 445 tons of concrete reinforcement, and 1,600 tons of structural steel. The contract was awarded to Pittsburgh-Des Moines Steel Company on July 23, 1929, at an estimated cost of $491,400. The work was under the immediate direction of C. R. DeGraff, Resident Engineer, with H. A. Fleig as principal assistant, E. A. Faille inspecting concrete, and J. E. Driscoll inspecting steel and piles. The Edinburg approach was to be constructed by the County of Saratoga under its agreement with the Board. Gates on Conklingville Dam closed on March 27, 1930, and the Batchellerville Bridge opened on October 25, 1930.
