History

Languntoutenunk, or Friedensstadt, meaning city of Peace, was a former Moravian Indian village settled in the spring of 1770. Most members of this mission had previously belonged to the mission at Wyalusing before moving to Lawunakhannek on the Allegheny River, from which they then removed to this site. In the spring of 1773, the village's inhabitants moved to Gnadenhuetten and Schoenbrunn in the Tuscarawas Valley, where other Moravian missions were organized.
