Tennessee honored the heroism of her cavalry sons for September 19-20, 1863, including the 4th (Baxter Smith) Regiment, Companies G and H, 3rd Confederate Regiment, in Harrison's Brigade, Wharton's Division, Wheeler's Cavalry; Companies E, F, G, I, H, and K, 1st Confederate Regiment, in Russell's Brigade, Wharton's Division, Wheeler's Cavalry; the 1st (6) Regiment under Lt. Col. Jas. H. Lewis and the 18th Battalion under Maj. Chas. McDonald in Col. J. T. Wheeler's Brigade, Armstrong's Division, Forrest's Cavalry; the 4th (Starnes), 8th, 9th, 10th, and 11th Regiments and Shaw's Battalion in Dibrell's Brigade, Armstrong's Division, Forrest's Cavalry; the 2nd and 5th Regiments in Scott's Brigade, Pegram's Division, Forrest's Cavalry; Rucker's Legion, composed of the 12th and 16th Battalions, in Davidson's Brigade, Pegram's Division, Forrest's Cavalry; and the escorts of Gen'l Forrest under Capt. J. C. Jackson, Gen'l Buckner under Capt. J. W. Clark, and Gen'l Cleburne under Capt. C. F. Sanders.
