In 1904, Irving co-founder J.O. Schulze and his wife Agnes Sueppel Schulze built their home on this site, a frame side-gabled Colonial Revival house with a Palladian window in the gable of the front wall dormer. J.O. had founded Irving Lumber Co. in 1903 and operated it until 1905, when the family returned to Iowa because of Agnes's and their baby's poor health. Although J.O. visited Irving periodically, he lived in Iowa until his wife's death, then moved back to Irving in 1945 and lived in this area until his death in 1961. Over the years, the house also served as a church and a day nursery, and it was vacant when it burned in 1985.
