Wesser Bald is a 4,627-foot summit in western North Carolina within Nantahala National Forest and a well-known stop along the Appalachian Trail. Its most distinctive feature is the wooden Wesser Fire Tower at the top, prized for rare unobstructed 360-degree views from a forested peak. In clear conditions, the panorama includes the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, the Nantahala Mountains, Wayah Bald, the Nantahala Gorge, and Kuwohi. The summit is especially valued for how easily its views can be reached, including a short climb from Tellico Gap. After regional concern during the November 2016 forest fires, the tower was found to have survived.
