Benjamin Davis Wilson, affectionately known as Don Benito, was Alhambra's founding father and was instrumental in pursuing the development of early Alhambra through his keen business sense and political aptitude. By subdividing his large estate into the first tracts of land sold to westward bound settlers, he provided the groundwork for the eventual incorporation of the city of Alhambra.
