Donna Hooks Fletcher, for whom the City of Donna was named, was the daughter of Thomas J. Hooks, one of the founders of the original townsite. Born ahead of her time, she was a pioneer and entrepreneur who tamed a piece of the wilderness and crafted many successful businesses. She was also a woman of great compassion and charity who extended a helping hand to others in her community. Like the Native Americans whose lands these were for millennia before us, she felt a great unity with the sacred and sought strength from God to help others find goodness within themselves and the world.
