Donivan Slough is a lowland woodland where rich soil and abundant moisture support a variety of large, water-tolerant trees, including tulip poplar, sycamore, and water oak. Baldcypress thrive in the swampy backwaters of a slue, or channel, winding through the bottomland, and they grow in the wet slough in a particularly dramatic way that can be seen along a 20 minute walk.
