Robert S. Weisiger became Deputy Sheriff of Victoria County at 19 and served as County Sheriff from 1906 to 1920 and again from 1928 to 1936. In the early days, he rode horseback to carry out his duties. He brought suspects to trial in all major crimes of the area and helped quell the 1917 riot of Camp Logan soldiers.
