This building housed the family carriage and related equipment such as carriage poles, harnesses, horse collars, wheel jacks, and fly nets hung on horses in the summer. Most farms had a buckboard, a single seat with a large open box behind, serving as the equivalent of a pick-up truck. More well-to-do farmers also had a one-seat or two-seat closed buggy, and larger carriages, closed box vans, and one-horse shays were also used.
