Soldiers and Army nurses from the Golden Triangle Area participated in the Battle of the Bulge in Belgium and Luxembourg from 16 December 1944 through 25 January 1945. This major conflict with the German armies is regarded as the greatest battle ever fought by the United States Army. Victory was achieved at the cost of 80,987 American casualties, including 19,485 killed.
