First organized in the 1930s in a small one-room frame building, the Antioch Colored School was replaced by a four-room schoolhouse in 1948. It served the African American children of the Orizaba community and consolidated the Ball Nob, Adkins Chapel, Beulah Hill, Palestine, and Union Prospect schools. A rare surviving example of a rural standardized-plan schoolhouse built under the Equalization Plan of 1946, it closed in the 1950s.
