Big Powderhorn Mountain is a ski resort in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula in the Gogebic Range between Bessemer and Ironwood. The resort has 253 skiable acres, nine chairlifts, a rope tow, and 45 trails divided among easy, intermediate, and difficult terrain for alpine skiing and snowboarding. Two terrain parks and access to the Wolverine Nordic Trail add freestyle and cross-country options. Its summit reaches 1,631 feet and its base 1,214 feet, for a 417-foot vertical drop. After a fire destroyed the main lodge on January 13, 2011, operations resumed the next day from nearby Caribou Lodge, and a new lodge opened for the 2012–2013 ski season.
