History
4
A federal New Deal project during the Great Depression moved families back to the land. The homes had water, electricity, a barn, chicken coop, cellar, and garden. The community had a school, store, gas station, workshops, lumber mill, and quarry. The U.S. government built 198 homes at Valley Bend and Dailey and sold them to private owners in 1946-47.
