Abraham Lincoln’s Second Inaugural Address in 1865 called for malice toward none, charity for all, firmness in the right as God gives us to see the right, perseverance to finish the work at hand, healing the nation’s wounds, caring for those who had borne the battle and for their widows and orphans, and achieving and cherishing a just and lasting peace among ourselves and with all nations. In Spring Grove, veterans, citizens, local organizations, townships, and the City of Spring Grove joined together to erect the Spring Grove Area Veterans Memorial, dedicated on June 24, 2017.
