Chicopee honored its fallen Civil War soldiers from Massachusetts infantry regiments, naming Alden Portger, George D. Justin, Lucien Robertson, Lawrence McGrath, Michael H. Moffatt, Charles W. Thompson, Daniel Shay, Thomas Kelly, Patrick Toomey, Charles F. Searle, Lyman J. Paul, Mitchell W. Paul, Cornelius Cone, Michael Cavanaugh, Samuel Morse, Chauncey E. Hendrick, William O. Wight, Norman W. Fuller, George S. Lombard, William H. Fuller, William J. Page, James O. Cole, James Sullivan, Irving Chapin, Charles R. Collins, Charles B. Rulofson, William Dwyer, Thomas Ronan, Thomas Moriarty, Cornelius Murphy, Charles K. Dewey, Edward P. Woods, John Henry, Lemuel E. Mallory, David Murphy, and Henry Young of the 10th, 15th, 18th, 21st, 27th, 28th, and 31st Massachusetts Infantry, who were killed in battle, died of wounds, died in hospitals, prisons, or camp service, or died of disease contracted in service between 1861 and 1866 at places including Fair Oaks, Malvern Hill, Antietam, Gettysburg, the Wilderness, Spottsylvania Court House, Cold Harbor, Newbern, Kinston, Port Hudson, Yellow Bayou, Sabine Cross Roads, Andersonville, Millen, Washington, Davids Island, Harrison's Landing, Beaufort, and Morehead City.
