Leonard Hill is a 2,592-foot mountain in Schoharie County, New York, east-southeast of North Blenheim, with Safford Hill and Hubbard Hill nearby. Its most notable feature is the steel fire lookout tower on its summit. Built by the Conservation Commission in 1948, the 80-foot Aermotor LS40 tower had previously stood at Gilbert Lake State Park from 1932 before being dismantled and moved to Leonard Hill. It served during the period of staffed forest fire detection until aerial methods reduced its role. Fire watching ended after the 1988 season, and the tower officially closed in early 1989. It still stands closed, though local plans aim to restore and reopen it.
