Trajan's Market in central Rome is a multi-level Roman complex built into the Quirinal Hill as part of Trajan's Forum, probably between AD 100 and 110 and inaugurated in 113. Often linked to Apollodorus of Damascus, it preserves streets, halls, rooms, terraces, and Via Biberatica, offering an unusually vivid view of the ancient city. Once seen mainly as a shopping center, it is now understood as a mixed-use complex with administrative spaces, shops, apartments, and areas for public functions, including wheat distribution. Later altered by medieval, convent, and barracks uses, it now serves as both an archaeological site and the Museo dei Fori Imperiali.
