McColly Covered Bridge in western Logan County, Ohio, near Bloom Center, spans the Great Miami River and is one of only two covered bridges remaining in the county. Built in 1876 by the Anderson Green Company and named for nearby landowner Nicholas McColly, it is that builder’s only surviving bridge. The wooden structure is notable for its Howe truss design and was among only eighteen such bridges left in Ohio when it entered the National Register of Historic Places in 1974. After decades of repairs, flooding, vandalism, and severe deterioration forced its closure in 1993, a major rehabilitation restored it, and it reopened in 2000.
