Iris is the wreck of a schooner built at Port Huron, Michigan, in 1866 that worked the Great Lakes for 47 years. For much of her career she was based at Detroit Harbor on Washington Island in Wisconsin. In 1913 she ran aground in Lake Michigan off Washington Island, and her crew abandoned her, bringing her long service to an end. The site remains significant as a record of Great Lakes maritime history and was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places in 2006.
