From October 1952 to October 1953, James Earl Carter, Jr., later President of the United States from 1977 to 1981, and his wife Rosalynn lived in Quarters Number 7 in the U.S. Army Rotterdam Housing Area while he attended Union College as a U.S. Navy Lieutenant Commander.
