The Brown's Ferry vessel is the remains of a colonial-era merchant cargo ship found in the Black River near Brown's Ferry in the Georgetown area of South Carolina. Artifacts indicate it sank sometime between 1730 and 1740 while carrying a main cargo of bricks. More than 50 feet long, it was built of oak, pine, and cypress planking, with a flat bottom and no keel. Its surviving structure made it an unusually important example of shipbuilding in the southern British colonies of North America. Excavated and raised in 1976, it was later listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is now displayed at the Rice Museum in Georgetown.
