Mount Helena City Park is a 620-acre public park centered on Mount Helena, a defining Helena, Montana, landmark that rises 5,468 feet above sea level and about 1,300 feet above the city. Six trails climb and circle the mountain, connecting with Helena National Forest and leading to local features such as Devil’s Kitchen, the large letter H on the mountainside, and the summit. Free to enter and maintained by the City of Helena with local conservation and recreation groups, the park was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1997, recognizing its importance as both a natural and civic landmark.
