Fort Boise Wildlife Management Area, also known as Fort Boise Lake Wildlife Management Area, is a protected tract near Parma in southwestern Idaho that covers 1,630 acres in the floodplains of the Boise and Snake rivers. It became part of Idaho’s wildlife management system in 1956, when Idaho Power Company deeded 330 acres to the Idaho Department of Fish and Game. Its wetlands were created to replace goose nesting islands on the Snake River lost to the construction of Brownlee Dam. With shallow water and dense vegetation, the area provides especially favorable habitat for waterfowl and continues to support wildlife watching and hunting.
