South Dakota is home to nine tribes of the Sioux Nation, each identified by one of three dialects: Dakota, Lakota, and Nakota. Part of tribal culture can be experienced by attending a wacipi, or powwow, to see colorful regalia, hear spirited drumming and singing, and sample traditional foods.
