A bell cast in 1848 hung in the Pioneer Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) from 1854 until 1896. When the church was demolished, Senator C.L. LaRue rescued the bell. In the interest of local history, the Ellis McLanahan family presented it to the Native Daughters for installation on the original site, and it was dedicated by the George C. Yount Parlor No. 322 Native Daughters of the Golden West on September 15, 1984.
