Michigan Central's 4-4-0 locomotive #6 was built in 1877, renumbered to #156 in 1897, rebuilt and modernized in October 1902, and retired in 1922. A steep ramp in the background was constructed so horse-drawn wagons filled with harvested crops could dump their loads into the elevator from high above. The two locomotives behind 6 may have been involved in a minor collision and were about to be hauled into Jackson for repairs.
