At this spot, the first blood was shed in the Sioux Indian Outbreak on Aug. 17, 1862. The victims were Robinson Jones, Ann Baker-Jones, Howard Baker, Viranus Webster, and Clara D. Wilson. Their bodies are buried in Ness Cemetery. The State of Minnesota erected this on the 47th Anniversary, Aug. 17, 1909.
