Near Jackson, Michigan, along a wooded stretch of the Grand River, the Clark–Stringham site preserves evidence of repeated human use from the late Archaic through the early, middle, and late Woodland periods, with its main occupation in the later Woodland era. It appears to have been a seasonal camp rather than a permanent village, reflecting recurring short-term use tied to river resources. Rediscovered in 1968, it was investigated by Michigan State University teams and other archaeologists through 1973, yielding artifacts from multiple periods. Its significance lies in documenting a long sequence of prehistoric occupation and changing settlement patterns in southern Michigan.
