In 1911, families in rural Dublin, after years of sending their children to Pleasanton Elementary School, came together to raise money for a school of their own. With $1,280 in funds and land donated by Mr. Antone, a one-room schoolhouse was built in 1912. Antone School served students from kindergarten through eighth grade for generations before closing in 1943. The broader history around it includes the 1850 purchase of 1,000 acres by Irish immigrants Michael Murray and Jeremiah Fallon from Jose Maria Amador, the founding of Dublin, the building of the Amador General Store and Amador Hotel in 1860, the rise of agriculture and farming as the Tri-Valley’s key economic driver in 1950, the incorporation of the City of Dublin in 1982, and approval in 2009 of the amended general plan for the 184-acre Wallis Ranch community.
