Canoe Camp is part of the Nez Perce National Historical Park and a key site along the Northwest Passage Scenic Byway, a 202-mile route that stretches from Lewiston to Lolo Pass on US Highway 12 and from Kooskia to Grangeville on Idaho Highway 13. The byway follows the Nez Perce and Lewis and Clark National Historic Trails along two wild and scenic rivers, with parks, waysides, and kiosks providing information along the route. A spur links Spalding with Lapwai, the headquarters for the Nez Perce Tribe, three miles south on US Highway 95. Distances are 43 miles from Orofino to Lewiston, 30 miles from Orofino to Kooskia, 130 miles from Orofino to Lolo Pass, and 26 miles from Kooskia to Grangeville.
