In October 1813, Andrew Jackson mobilized from the Tennessee militia a mounted brigade, an artillery company, and an infantry division of about 3500 men for punitive operations in Mississippi Territory, now Alabama. John Coffee commanded the mounted troops, while Hall and Roberts commanded the infantry brigades.
