On this ground stood the Indian wigwam occupied on November 4, 1828, by Aaron Pierce, his wife Harriet Bellows Pierce, and their four children, the first white settlers of Savanna. It was erected in honor of his mother, Sila Pierce Bowen, by Frank Pierce Bowen.
