The Irene Veterans Memorial records local service members from the Civil War, the Spanish American War, World War I, World War II, the Korean War, Vietnam, Panama and Grenada, Desert Storm, O.I.F. and O.E.F., and peacetime service, listing many individuals by name and identifying some as killed in action. It also includes a Soldier's Prayer asking God's blessing on veterans as guardians of the land, praising their readiness for battle, strength, courage, resolve, compassion, peace, integrity, and the selfless service through which freedom can be born.
