Nature
Steel Mountain in Elmore County, Idaho, is the highest point in Boise National Forest and, at 9,730 feet, the second-highest summit in the Boise Mountains. Its position 17.08 miles from Two Point Mountain, the range’s highest point and its line parent, helps give it a prominence of 2,188 feet. That prominence reflects how distinctly the peak rises above the surrounding terrain and underscores its significance within the landscape of the Boise Mountains.
