This cemetery occupies the third site of Good Hope Presbyterian Church, founded in 1789, and dates from the early 19th century. A frame sanctuary was built here in 1856 during the tenure of Rev. David Humphreys, who preached here from 1821 to 1869 and was Good Hope's longest-serving pastor. In 1909 the congregation moved three miles east to Iva and built a new brick sanctuary there. The 1856 sanctuary, the third to serve Good Hope, was demolished in 1924, years after the congregation moved. Buried here is Rev. Richard Cater Ligon, pastor of Good Hope from 1876 to 1902, and his son Rev. J. Frank Ligon served as pastor from 1947 to 1949. The cemetery also includes plots of the Beaty, McAlister, McMahan, McKee, and other early families.
