Armand A. Dufresne, Jr. was the first person of Franco-American heritage to serve as Maine's Chief Justice. Before becoming Chief Justice, he served as Androscoggin County Attorney, Judge of Probate, a Justice of Maine's Superior Court, and an Associate Justice of the Maine Supreme Judicial Court. As Chief Justice, he demonstrated extraordinary leadership in modernizing and unifying Maine's court system, and throughout his distinguished legal career he applied the law in a wise, caring, and humane manner.
