Capt. L.W. Lee (1831-1916), a Confederate veteran, moved here from Missouri in 1869, founded Valley View 10 miles south in 1873, and became a leading cattleman of the area. In 1894, as a wedding gift for his daughter Ella, Mrs. J.M. Potter, he built this house. It was bought in 1949 and preserved by Mr. and Mrs. W.D. Hurley.
