Banning Meeting House
Faith
2
Founded in 1778 by Freeborn Garrettson, this congregation first met in the home of Caleb Boyer. In 1842, Richard Cooper donated land on this site for the construction of Banning Meeting House, where the congregation worshiped for approximately fourteen years. In the 1850s, the congregation divided and built two churches closer to members' homes: Beth Berei Church in the Town of Magnolia in 1856 and Lebanon Church at Lebanon in 1858. The meeting house was abandoned and later sold. The cemetery was incorporated in 1899 by The Banning Cemetery Association of North Murderkill Hundred in Kent County and has been maintained by Orchard Church of Magnolia since 1960.
