Improvements to Lions Memorial Field Park and its Armed Services monument are dedicated to LaVale Lions who passed away while upholding the motto "We Serve" and to all who have served honorably in the Armed Services of the United States, especially those who made the ultimate sacrifice defending the freedom and liberty of all Americans. The project was a Lions Clubs International centennial legacy project by the LaVale Lions Club, made possible through contributions in memory of Lions J. Arthur Shank, James Walburn, William Turnbull, Joseph Radcliffe, Patrick Trost, Ronald Sterne, Clayton Hall, Edward Pallik, Kenneth Drumm, David Whitworth, Robert C. Roman, Joseph Dorsey, Ivan Hall, Richard Robertson, and James E. Summers, with support from Boy Scout Troop 10, Cub Scout Pack 10, LaVale Athletic Association Youth Athletes, LaVale Civic Improvement Association, Fred Sloan Stonemason, Western Maryland Signs, and Dan Foy, Daddy Lawncare Services.
