Lookout Pass Ski and Recreation Area sits on the Idaho-Montana border at Lookout Pass along Interstate 90, where it has grown from a community ski hill opened in 1935 into a larger four-season destination. After decades of gradual development, major expansions in 2003, 2006, 2020, and 2022 added lifts, trails, and acreage on both sides of the border. The mountain is known for heavy snowfall, varied lift-served terrain, and freestyle features. Its significance also comes from its setting near historic transportation routes through the Bitterroot Mountains and from its role as a major access point for the Route of the Hiawatha and the Trail of the Coeur d'Alenes.
