Georgians served in major twentieth-century conflicts in large numbers, including 77,000 in World War I, 324,373 in World War II, 75,000 in the Korean War, 228,000 in the Vietnam War, and 28,000 in the Persian Gulf War, with the dead, wounded, former prisoners of war, missing in action, and in the Vietnam War identified remains recorded for each conflict. It also recognizes 1,000,000 or more Cold War veterans and 660,900 veterans living in Georgia, and presents broader prisoner-of-war and missing-in-action figures from the Revolutionary War, the War Between the States, World War I, World War II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, and the Persian Gulf War, including totals for captivity deaths and those unaccounted for.
