The Jane C. Burdette and Valentine Family Memorial Art of Peace Garden honors Jane Burdette's inspiration, optimism, and ability to foster collaboration. Set in a triangular design, it features heirloom plants from the Valentine gardens and stands between Valentown Hall, built by Jane's great-grandfather Levin Valentine in 1879, and an old oak dated 1735. The garden celebrates the history of the Valentine family, continues the hall's original purpose as a community meeting place, and is maintained by the Valentown Garden Club as a peaceful and historic setting for art, nature, and cultural programs. It also celebrates and continues 200 years of peace and longstanding friendship between two countries that share the world's undefended border. During the War of 1812, soldiers camped on the grounds where Valentown Hall now stands and received nourishment and needed provisions from Levi Valentine's grandmother, Grandma Town(s). The hall and garden are in Victor, New York, a place originally settled by Seneca Indians, officially established in 1812, and named for Claudius Victor Boughton, who distinguished himself in the War of 1812. Nearby are Valentown Museum, home to the Victor Historical Society and listed on the National and State Registers of Historic Places, the hiking rail leading to Ganondagan State Historic Site, once a thriving Seneca village, and water access in Pittsford to the Erie Canal, where remains of Lock 62 can be visited.
