Eugene V. Debs (1855-1926) was a leading pioneer in industrial unionism, a social reformer, and a peace advocate. He founded the American Railway Union in 1893, cofounded the American Socialist Party in 1900, and ran five times for the United States Presidency. His home was built in 1890 and was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1966.
