Colonel O. M. Roberts reported on men of the 11th, 15th & 18th Texas Infantry buried in a grave near here after they died in the Battle of Bayou Bourbeux in 1863, writing that while Texas would mourn the loss of her brave sons, she would treasure their memory as glorious martyrs of their common country's independence.
