On Pittsburgh’s North Shore, this museum is devoted to the life and work of Andy Warhol, the Pittsburgh-born artist who became a central figure in pop art. The largest single-artist museum in North America and one of the Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh, it holds a vast permanent collection and archive spread across seven floors and seventeen galleries, including paintings, works on paper, prints, sculptures, photographs, films, and videotaped works. Opened in 1994 after major donations from the Warhol and Dia foundations, it has mounted traveling exhibitions worldwide, made notable archival discoveries, and continues to expand its role through the Pop District project announced in 2022.
