Bartholomew County citizens served in the U.S. Army, Navy, Marines, and Nurses’ Corps during World War I in 1917 and 1918, and an honor roll erected by the Board of County Commissioners in 1939 and 1940 recorded their names with stars marking those who made the supreme sacrifice.
