Lighthouse Point Park is an 82-acre city park on the eastern point of New Haven Harbor in New Haven’s East Shore neighborhood, with views back toward downtown across one of the city’s most distinctive waterfront settings. It is especially known for the deactivated Five Mile Point Light, a historic lighthouse open for tours during special events, and for the seasonally operating Lighthouse Point Carousel, which give the park both a maritime identity and the character of a long-established public recreation area. Bordering the Morris Creek Nature Preserve, a 20-acre salt marsh, the park also serves as an important Atlantic flyway stopover for migrating butterflies, hawks, and many other birds.
