2
The Alexander Grant House was built in 1721, with earlier portions constructed circa 1690-1700. In addition to serving as a residence, its buildings once housed a temperance hotel and medical offices. Before 1850, John S. Rock, the first African-American attorney admitted to practice law before the U.S. Supreme Court, studied dentistry here.
